Part I: Your Political Philosopy is?

What’s your sign? Are you one of the following: libertarian, liberal (left), conservative(right), a centrist, or a statist. It’s hard for us to believe that we aren’t just a little bit of each of these philosophies all rolled into one. As defined at theadvocates.org the definitions for personal political philosophy are stated as follows.

Libertarians

support maximum liberty in both personal and economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence. Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties.

Liberals

Liberals usually embrace freedom of choice in personal matters but tend to support significant government control of the economy. They generally support a government-funded “safety net” to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations, defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles.

Centrists

Centrists espouse a “middle ground” regarding government control of the economy and personal behavior. Depending on the issue, they sometimes favor government intervention and sometimes support individual freedom of choice. Centrists pride themselves on keeping an open mind, tend to oppose “political extremes,” and emphasize what they describe as “practical” solutions to problems.

Conservatives

Conservatives tend to favor economic freedom, but frequently support laws to restrict personal behavior that violates “traditional values.” They oppose excessive government control of business, while endorsing government action to defend morality and the traditional family structure. Conservatives usually support a strong military, oppose bureaucracy and high taxes, favor a free-market economy, and endorse strong law enforcement.

Statists

Statists want government to have a great deal of power over the economy and individual behavior. They frequently doubt whether economic liberty and individual freedom are practical options in today’s world. Statists tend to distrust the free market, support high taxes and centralized planning of the economy, oppose diverse lifestyles, and question the importance of civil liberties.

Grassroots Obama Bumper Sticker Popularity Poll

Is it just me or have you noticed that there is a shift going on in our country in regards to our support for President Barak Obama and his policies? I guess I knew it was bound to happen. No President can maintain unrealistic support in the face of overwhelming social problem(s) while attempting to put forth constitution changing programs that threaten the freedoms we all cherish.

I have noticed, and am wondering if you have also, that there are fewer bumper stickers on the cars around me in traffic with “Obama” stickers on their bumpers or back windows. My take on this is that there is truly disillusionment with the administration and its policies. It’s like a tidal wave.

Do Muslims belong in the Military?

America has long been a country that respects religious freedom and allows people of any religion to worship freely. Perhaps it has become time to review where we draw the line on this freedom. If your religion supports the destruction of The United States then perhaps your religion should be under heightened scrutiny to insure that it operates within the laws, or the interpretation of the law.

Are you citing the desire to be part of and perhaps alluding to your desire to participate in the destruction of the United States? This is probably a good reason for closer scrutiny of you and your religious organization who it may be irregardless your organization should face the same fate as if you threaten the President. I think this is a pretty serious charge. See the corresponding law here! There are numerous news clips where people have been arrested and are charged with threatening the President of the United States. For more news information on how prevalent it has been to threaten the President click here! I don’t recall this kind of response to all the threats against President Bush when he was in office but this is a whole different story for a different post. Back on topic.

Should Muslims be in Military if their beliefs suggest that they are not capable of honoring the commitment? From a number of perspectives Muslims are under a unique pressure based on their religious doctrine. This fact does not excuse them from their duties as American citizens and their responsibility to conduct their lives in accordance with the laws of this country they choose to live in.

The following video discusses our double standard with regards to this issue and how perhaps we are not looking under the right rocks for the true terrorist organizations that are operating or attempting to get a foothold in our country.
